what news we have today.
The eternal love triangle is the cornerstone of Archie Comics for over 65 years and the bane of Archie Andrews' existence! In fact, over the years it has not only defined the Betty/Archie/Veronica relationship, but has even threatened to dismantle it a time. In fact, we’ll even go so far as to call it the ARCHIE STORY OF THE CENTURY. With a title like 'Archie Gets Married Part 1: The Proposal', how could we call it anything else?! Could it be true? Has Archie finally decided to take the plunge and propose to one of comics’ favorite girls? It sure looks that way!
Earlier this year, fans of this timeless comic got a chance to relive Freshman Year with the famous teens of Riverdale High. Now make way for this special story that takes a look at Archie and his friends after they graduate college! What careers will they seek? Will the friends stay in Riverdale or disperse? What would lead Archie to have marriage on his mind? And who would he choose Veronica or Betty? How will Betty react? How will Veronica react? Can Archie shake off his past and hold down a steady job… for more than a month? One thing is certain: this will be the biggest Archie Comics story ever!
Acclaimed superhero movie producer Michael Uslan draws upon his lifelong love of Archie comic books to write this very special tale, rendered by legendary Archie Comics artist Stan Goldberg.
We have found our THOR and it's CHRIS HEMSWORTH - who many have now seen playing Captain Kirk's father, George Kirk in STAR TREK. As has been standard, there is no comment or confirmation from Marvel Studios, but one expects if it is true, it will be confirmed by Monday.
Thor's character in a nutshell, is the Viking god of thunder who wears a winged helmet and speaks in old anglo-saxon English, as well as referring to himself in the third person as 'the Odinson'. He wields a magic hammer, and can 'fly' by throwing the hammer really hard and hanging on to it. Not only is there the movie Thor but he'll also be interacting later with the likes of Iron Man and Hulk. Marvel tapping director Kenneth Branagh is considered a smart move to elevate the pic since the British helmer has so much experience with Shakespearean battle movies. Daniel Craig reportedly turned down the lead role. Other names reputedly in consideration were ROME’s Kevin McKidd and WWE champion Triple-H, who previously entered the Marvel universe as a villainous vampire in BLADE: TRINITY. And also a host of little knowns. The following actors were tested: Charlie Hunnam (the British co-star of the F/X series SONS OF ANARCHY), Tom Hiddleston (award-winning British actor and RADA graduate who played Winston Churchill's son in HBO's THE GATHERING STORM), Alexandar Skarsgard (Stellan's son who has appeared in the HBO Iraq War miniseries GENERATION KILL and vampire drama TRUE BLOOD), Liam Hemsworth (offered a significant role in The EXPENDABLES after Sly Stallone saw his tape) and Joel Kinnaman (some Swedish-American unknown actor).
I'd heard Marvel wanted to finalize casting Thor this month. The film's release was recently pushed back from July 16, 2010, to now May 20, 2011.
Long live the rainbow bridge of Asgard!
Will it be a more younger and slicker THOR rather than your usual built and meaty-brawling one ?
UPDATE : Marvel Studios announced today that TOM HIDDLESTON has been cast to play the villain LOKI in the studio’s highly anticipated movie THOR. Kenneth Branagh will direct the film penned by Mark Protosevich and Ashley Miller & Zak Stentz. THOR reunites Hiddleston with Branagh, with whom he worked on the London production of Chekhov’s Ivanov. The talented actor and Branagh also starred together in the BBC miniseries Wallander. Hiddleston’s credits also include Othello, in which he starred with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ewan McGregor at the Donmar Warehouse, and he played Winston Churchill's son in HBO's The Gathering Storm. In 2008, Hiddleston was nominated twice for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Newcomer – for his role in Othello, and for his role in Cymbeline. He won the award for the latter.
In addition to THOR, Marvel Studios is also scheduled to release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including IRON MAN 2 on May 7, 2010, THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA on July 22, 2011, and THE AVENGERS on May 4, 2012.
